A feeling that evoked happiness and joy was the one Tade felt when he saw the Northern lights on one of his trips to the UK. 

The Northern lights appear a couple of times in a year and are always a feel good moment for people who are oppportuned to experience it. 

The northern lights are also known as Aurora Borealis; Aurora- Lights, Borealis- Northern. It is called the northern lights because it appears on the northern hemisphere. 

In some cultures, the appearance of the aurora signifies a royal birth, and an indication of war in other cultures. The northern light is a solar flare, and a natural occurrence that can happen during any season. It is however common in Spring and fall. It is also a great experience for its beauty. 

In this article, I would be sharing the best travel spots to see the northern lights. 



  1. Iceland: Iceland is known for its great landscape, its geothermal pool, and rich culture. It is already an exciting spot to visit, and the Aurora Borealis also shows itself in this city. Vatnajokull, and Reykjavik are the great spots to have a good viewing experience in Iceland. 
  1. Finland: The Rovaniemi in Finland at the arctic cirlce is a great place to explore the beauty of the Aurora Borealis. Whether you want to go ice fishing, mobile safari, or see Santa in December, The Rovaniemi offers it all, making it a perfect travel location for you and your loved ones. 
  1. Norway: Tromso in Norway is an elite location to view the Aurora Borealis, and is said to be one of the topmost places to see them. it is located in the bubbly city at the arctic circle, the northern lights are very clear from this location, and the city offers lots of exciting activities making it a great travel spot. Best time to see the lights here is from September – April. 


  • Greenland: Illuissat in Greenland is bursting with nature, and due to its low wind and rain, the weather is friendly and watching the beautiful Northern lights show off and out in this city is exciting. 
  1. Sweden: The Luke’s archipelago and ICE HOTEL are great spots to see the Aurora Borealis in Sweden. Coupled with the great camping experience, and outdoor activities , it is sure to be an exciting view. 

The northern lights shows up like the solar eclipse and the sight is just a beauty to behold. Some of the above mentioned features the best places to experience this phenomenal natural experience that you should definitely try and explore.
