Travelling abroad can be very challenging – more so when it’s your first time.

We’ve previously written a post on how to settle in nicely after you’ve moved to a new country. In this article, we’re going to focus on before you make the move. We’ll provide some useful tips to help you in your preparation.

If you’re going to be taking a long international flight for your travel, here are some important pointers for you:

1. Get to the airport early

Ensure you arrive at the airport early enough, perhaps two or three hours before your flight. This will give you enough time to navigate queues, review your papers, and pass through passport control and security. The last thing you’ll need is to be in a hurry when you’re already nervous!

2. You can check in online

With many airlines, you’re able to check in online starting 24 hours before your flight. Taking this option is great because it allows you to save time at the airport.

3. Know luggage restrictions

Luggage restrictions can vary from airline to airline and country to country. Make sure you are aware of these before hand. Check your airline’s website before you start packing. It will tell you what you can or can’t bring on the plane.

4. Ensure you have your documents handy

You will need your documents, so there is no reason keeping them at the bottom of the box. Have your papers handy. It will save you the time and stress of shuffling through your bags at the airport to try and get out the necessary documents.

Have both physical and electronic copies of important documentation available just in case.

Remember that travel might bring about unexpected changes, so be prepared to accept them. Being pushed off schedule can sometimes lead to the most memorable moments of your journey.
